Trust, Science and Health Security

A key area of emphasis in this research cluster is to examine the impact that the perceived politicization of science has on the public’s trust in science, belief in conspiracy theories, and subsequent intention to comply with COVID-19 regulations.

Correlates of Covid-19

A key goal of this research cluster is to explore the correlates of COVID spread. One project in this cluster examines how levels of positive and negative peace (at the micro and macro level) predicted a lower COVID-19 positivity rate and more COVID-19 tests during the first six months of the pandemic. Another examines how different individual factors (i.e., trust in science, concerns about contracting the virus, conservative political ideology, and national identification), cultural orientations (i.e., individualism-collectivism and tightness-looseness).
