Responsibility to Protect and Internal Displacement

UMass Political Science PhD student Gabriel Mares will present his work on the origins of the Responsibility to Protect doctrine and the issue of internally displaced persons. His working paper, entitled, “Agency in a Time of (Neo)liberal intervention?” is a component of a wider dissertation on the role of African political elites in the development of human security norms. Mares will present his work at the November meeting of the Conflict, Violence and Security working group in the Political Science Department at UMass-Amherst.

The workshop will convene at 9:30a.m. on November 11, 2021 and is open to the entire Political Science Department and affiliated faculty.
