Former UN Peacekeeper to Speak at UMass on Protection of Civilians
Retired Lt. Colonel Edward H Carpenter, former Chief of Policy and Planning for the UN Mission in South Sudan, will share insights from his new book Blue Helmet at the Commonwealth Events Hall on April 4, 2025 at 3:00pm.
Carpenter previously served for twenty years in the United States Marine Corps with deployments to Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Japan, and Indonesia. He is a graduate of the US Air War College and the Indonesian Naval Command and Staff College, and has completed graduate degrees from Harvard University , the University of Melbourne and the US Naval Postgraduate School. His new book Blue Helmet: My Year as a Peacekeeper in the South Sudan is available from Potomac Press.
