Professor Severine Autessere to give Peace and Human Security Lecture

The Human Security Lab is proud to announce this Fall’s inaugural Peace and Human Security lecture by Professor Séverine Auteserre from Barnard College of Columbia University. Professor Auteserre will talk about her new book, The Frontlines of Peace: An Insider’s Guide to Changing the World. This exciting new work asks what strategies have worked to build lasting peace in conflict zones and provides key takeaways for the radical changes we need to make to build lasting peace around us.

Professor Auteserre is an award-winning author, peacebuilder, and researcher. She has worked intimately with the world of international aid for over twenty years, conducting research in conflict zones, including Colombia, Somalia, Israel, and Palestine and with Doctors Without Borders and at the United Nations headquarters. Her work has been critical in shaping policy, non-profit work, philanthropy, and activism.

Professor Autesserre will be speaking at UMass on September 30th at 2pm in the Hadley Room in Campus Center. Graduate students in the Department of Political Science and Legal Studies as well as Psychology and Brain Sciences have an opportunity to meet her for a catered luncheon at 11a in Thompson Hall 420.
